Medical-Grade Peels & Jessner’s Peel

What is a Jessner’s peel?

A Jessner’s peel is a non-invasive skin resurfacing procedure. At Healthy skin Centre, we perform hundreds of peels every year to treat a multitude of skin concerns. Jessner’s peels are very popular and safe when performed by the experts at Healthy Skin Centre.

Can I do my own peel at home?

Using peels at home is not advisable. It is possible to injure yourself. If you leave the product on too long, it could leave burns or sores. If you don’t prepare your skin properly, you might end up with uneven results.

How does it work?

The original Jessner’s peel was created almost 100 years ago by a doctor named Max Jessner. Since then, the peel formulation has been fine-tuned to contain a precise balance of lactic acid, salicylic acid and citric acid for optimal results. The Jessner’s peel formula is placed on your skin to dissolve the top most layers, and reveal fresher skin beneath the surface.

Jessner’s peel can treat a number of skin concerns including:

  • Acne and acne scars
  • Age spots including melasma
  • Dull complexion
  • Fine lines
  • Freckles and sun damage
  • Rough feeling skin

What can I expect?

To get the best results, you will need to use a skincare routine carefully created by one of our skincare experts to get your skin ready for your peel. This ensures that the peel penetrates evenly all over your face, so you have consistent results. Right before the peel, we will apply numbing cream to help alleviate discomfort. After the peel, you will need to carefully follow our instructions to help your skin recover. Your skin may be red and swollen, and then become dry and flaky or crusty before starting to shed. A full recovery takes about 1 week.

Chemical peels can be superficial, medium and deep in penetration. The deeper the peel the more dramatic the results, but the longer the recovery. A Jessner’s peel is a superficial peel. You will need multiple peels for the best results. The average number is 3 peels performed one month apart.
